- How do lessons work?
- Lessons are available either online or face to face at my classroom in Uffculme. Uffculme is 25 mins from Exeter, and ideally placed to support students from Uffculme School, Blundells School or Wellington School. If you would prefer online session, I use an online classroom system called Vectera. Your child will have their own classroom space, accessible any time. Work can be created in a collaborative way, and can be downloaded and printed any time.
- Do you have an up to date DBS check?
- Yes, I am fully checked.
- How do I pay?
- I will send an invoice monthly in arrears for payment via online banking. Payments within 7 days are appreciated.
- What does my child need to bring? (Face to face sessions only)
- For our first meeting, bringing exercise books can be helpful to show me what they’ve covered and areas they’re struggling with. I will provide your child with a folder to keep our work in, which is the only thing they should bring to subsequent lessons, unless there is particular school work they are struggling with.
- What about cancellations?
- Cancellations made without 48 hours notice will be subject to a cancellation fee, equalling one hour’s lesson charge. Full terms and conditions will be emailed to you before our first session.
- What happens at a first lesson?
- I will chat to your child, and let them tell me how things are going – what’s going well, what’s not going so well, and any recent test scores, along with their aims in the relevant subjects. I usually then do a learning styles questionnaire to help me tailor revision techniques and teaching methodology to your child’s preferred learning style. We’ll then discuss the practicalities of revision guides, materials, and useful web resources, and put together an action plan for our first few sessions.
